It wasn't until I started school here at JMU that I started practicing yoga. Yoga has had such a positive impact on my life. Some of the changes I've noticed are increased levels of focus and calm, better flexibility and respiratory health, as well as higher levels of confidence.

The American Osteopathic Association lists these benefits of practicing yoga as part of your regular workouts:

  • Increased flexibility.

  • Increased muscle strength and tone.

  • Improved respiration, energy and vitality.

  • Maintaining a balanced metabolism.

  • Weight reduction.

  • Cardio and circulatory health.

  • Improved athletic performance.

  • Protection from injury.

UREC offers a variety of different yoga classes including: Yoga Fitness, Yoga 2, Vinyasa Flow, Power Yoga, Power Yoga 2, Cardi Yoga, and Restorative Yoga and Meditation.
