Getting involved on campus is every Duke’s focus. I mean, why be a student at our amazing university if you don't take some time to contribute your individuality? However, academically, it’s sometimes hard to find an organization to help you thrive. But this just means you've never heard of the JMU business fraternities.
Define Business Fraternity.
A proper definition of a business fraternity from a website like Wikipedia is “an organization whose primary purpose is to promote the interests of a particular profession and whose membership is restricted to students in that particular field of professional education or study.” But of course, here at JMU, Dukes have made business fraternities something far more than an interest in business.
What’s in it for me?
Our university recognizes an array of professional business fraternities. Among these organizations are Delta Sigma Pi, Pi Sigma Epsilon, Alpha Kappa Psi, Phi Chi Theta, and Epsilon Nu Tau. Each business fraternity on campus gives students the traditional opportunity to better themselves as professionals, but at the same time students can form life-long bonds with brothers and learn to be the most flourished version of you are the top priority.
Getting down to business with PSE.
I am a brother of Pi Sigma Epsilon. I joined my brotherhood the fall semester of sophomore year. So far, I think this is the best decision I have made in my undergraduate career. I can assure you that a business fraternity is the perfect in between of being a productive college student and having the time of your life. The values of Pi Sigma Epsilon highlight the significance of having a brotherhood in your college life.
Pi Sigma Epsilon is the only national, professional, coeducational fraternity in marketing, sales management and selling. James Madison University’s Delta Rho Chapter is a brotherhood of 96 members who share a similar interest in furthering themselves as professional leaders of their futures. PSE offers students a national affiliation that has benefits beyond a local group that provide resources they would not be able to take advantage of by themselves.
Through PSE, students can gain real world experience while networking with other students and companies from around the country. This positive and professional college environment allows for students to grow as future business leaders while forming the bonds of a brotherhood along the way.
The good things that Pi Sigma Epsilon, as well as other business fraternities, has to offer stem from our dedication to brotherhood. Pi Sigma Epsilon’s hands brothers the opportunity to be involved in areas like:
Networking
Professional Speaking Events
Brother Bonding
Alumni Relations
Intramural Sports
Community Service
PSE Conducted Marketing Events
The president of the JMU chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon, Alex Crothers, holds the success of his brotherhood at his highest priority saying, “The Delta Rho chapter strives for greatness in all of its actions, and we are proud to have the highest quality of brothers in the nation. I am confident that by the end of 2017 our chapter will be a top ten PSE gold chapter.” I think a large part of this business fraternity’s success comes from this sort of mindset that all of our brothers share.

If you feel like you share any of the same ideals as Pi Sigma Epsilon, we encourage you to explore your options and try out a PSE informational event that takes place at the beginning of each semester. Our website’s recruitment information, along with a tentative schedule, is located on our Recruitment page, which will be updated next in January.
Getting involved is easy.
JMU has a massive range of student organizations. Finding your fit can seem daunting, and finding a productive fit can be stressful. So, if you’re looking for that perfect mix between business and pleasure, then maybe a business fraternity is for you. Keep your eyes out for information on recruitment at the beginning of each semester.
